A conference/workshop on the theme "Knowledge management for the Information Society" will take place in Salzburg, Austria, on 27 and 28 October 1998. The event is organised by the AESOPIAN project, funded by the EU's Telematics Applications research programme.

The aim of the AESOPIAN project is to raise the quality of management of information and communications technologies related competencies in European organisations and projects. The event will provide the opportunity to representatives of industry, research and public services to see the latest in technologies and best practices for knowledge management. The focus of the event will be the presentation of the results of the AESOPIAN project. It has developed a best practice life cycle model, which may be implemented using specially-developed Web-based software, and a best practice database.

During the conference, participants will hear about the AESOPIAN project and the tools developed, and will also hear from experts on the latest thinking about best practice and knowledge management techniques. Problem-oriented workshops will allow participants to address their own situations and work through possible solutions, with the possibility of applying AESOPIAN tools to their own organisations.
