26 November 1998 - 26 November 1998
France
A European Technology Meeting, devoted to the metalwork industry, will take place in Caen, France, on 26 November 1998. The event is organised by the western France Innovation Relay Centre, with support from ANVAR, the Centre des Technologies Nouvelles, CRITT BNC, and the Lower Normandy regional council.

The event is aimed at companies involved in all sectors of the metalwork industry, for example, machining, milling, assembly, and surface treatment. Companies from all sectors of the metalwork industry are facing changes which are forcing them to integrate major technological developments. Such changes include:
- Improved performance of tools and equipment;
- New specifications requiring specific skills;
- Developing expertise in particular manufacturing processes through innovation, often with the help of outside technology centres;
- Horizontal technology or know-how transfers from other sectors.

The event will bring together companies seeking or offering new technologies and processes. Individual meetings will be organised between companies, matching their needs and offers. Such meetings will discuss possibilities such as technology transfer, transfer of skills or expertise, and the industrial exploitation of products, and processes, not yet commercialised.
