Promoting partnerships and innovation in the electronics industry
Topics to be covered during the conference will include:
- A European perspective on the importance of collaboration between industry and academia and the highlights and significance of the forthcoming Fifth RTD Framework Programme;
- Clusters in Scotland with particular reference to the semiconductor industry;
- Case study on the Alba Centre, its functions and the opportunities it provides for the electronics industries;

- University gains and company benefits from effective collaboration;
- Commercialisation as a business process - mechanisms for making it happen.
A key component of the Congress will be the 1998 Connect Partnering Conference and Exhibition which will be held in parallel to the main event. This is designed to provide technology managers and R&D executives in the electronics and information industries with the opportunity to see new products and new technologies being developed by Scottish technology companies, universities and research institutes.
