Regional Innovation in Greece – Showcasing Innovative Greece

“Instead of pouring knowledge into people’s heads, we need to help them grind a new set of eyeglasses so that they can see the world in a new way” is one dicta from the first book covering all Regional Programmes of Innovative Actions in Greece

The fourth publication of the Greek Regional Programmes of Innovative Actions, entitled Showcasing Innovative Greece, presents both first and second generation of programmes with particular emphasis to their categorisation in clusters.

The General Secretary of the Region of Peloponnesus, Angela Avouri, stressed her belief for the: “added-value of the 2nd generation of the Greek Regional Programmes of Innovative Actions and their link to the work of the 4th CSF”

Anna Andricopoulou, project manager RIPE/NetForce 2006 - Regional Programmes of Innovative Actions for Peloponnesus said: “The added value of the regional programmes of innovative actions stems from the lessons that can be drawn from these innovative approaches, which allow for experimentation with new ideas and the demonstration of new hypotheses.”

Finally, the book editor and co-ordinator of the Greek Regional Programmes of Innovative Actions in the period 2004-2005, Christos Bezirtzoglou highlighted that: “The ability of regional economies to withstand competition and manage change is related to their capacity to innovate. The Regional Programmes of Innovative Actions were an EU and probably a world first ever capacity building exercise for regions.”
