Partenariat for fisheries and aquaculture

A Partenariat, organised within the framework of the EU's PESCA initiative for fisheries, will be held in Porto, Portugal, on 21 and 22 September 1998. The event is organised by the European Commission, DG XIV, in cooperation with the Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries.
This PESCA Partenariat has been designed for the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, and will cover all activities, including downstream activities, particularly fish-processing and distribution. A significant number of Portuguese projects have been selected for the event on the basis of their reliability and dynamism, and approximately 100 companies from other European countries are expected to attend in order to discuss and negotiate possible cooperation projects.
Meetings between potential partners will be pre-arranged on the basis of a catalogue circulated to all participants prior to the event. Other meetings may also be arranged during the event with the help of national counsellors who will take charge of the promotion of the event and the recruitment of visiting companies in each country. In addition, a series of information seminars for all participants will also be held during the event.
