Quality of service in digital television

An international workshop on the quality of service in digital television will be held in Metz, France, on 6 and 7 October 1998. The event will be organised by the French research centre in broadcasting and radio communications (TDF-CR2) and the partners in the QUOVADIS project, funded under the EU's research programme for Advanced Communications Technologies and Services (ACTS).

The workshop will address the key issue of how to monitor the quality of service in digital television in a practical way for the benefit both of end-users, and economic partners such as service providers, network operators and manufacturers. In addition, participants will be provided with the opportunity to visit the CR2 experimental platform and to view the architecture of digital television networks on satellite, cable or terrestrial paths.

The highlights of the workshop will include:

- Latest technical results of the QUOVADIS project;
- Measurement methodology and algorithms;
- Network and services management systems;
- Tests and measurement equipment;
- Audio and video quality meters;
- Transport stream analysers;
- RF test equipment;
- Quality of service channels.
