The first Euro-Asian Space Week will be held in Singapore, from 23 to 27 November 1998, sponsored by the European Space Agency and the National University of Singapore. The aim of the event is to review existing cooperation between Europe and Asia in space activities, with a view to consolidating and expanding on experience to date in order to focus on increased cooperation on issues of mutual interest.

Following the opening of the conference, there will be a presentation by astronauts on the extra-terrestrial aspects of space activities. A review of national and regional space activities and a special lecture on the ESA's science programme will also be included. This will be followed by a series of addresses delivered by various international experts.

The topics to be covered during the conference will include:

- Remote sensing;
- Telecommunications and technology;
- Small satellites and launchers;
- Risk management;
- Financing and insuring space projects.
