Underwater acoustics

The fourth European conference on underwater acoustics will be held in Rome, Italy, from 21 to 25 September 1998. The conference will be supported by the European Commission within the framework of the EU's RTD programme for Marine Science and Technology (MAST).It will be organised by the European Acoustics Association, in cooperation with the University of Rome and the Italian National Research Council.

The programme will comprise invited lectures, contributed papers and posters covering the whole field of underwater acoustics, which spans research on oceanography and coastal zone science as well as marine technology and bio-acoustics.

The topics to be covered during the conference will fall under the following headings:

- Scattering and reverberation;
- Propagation modelling;
- Signal and data processing;
- Acoustics in fisheries;
- Imaging and calibration;
- Tomography, transducers and instrumentation;
- Ambient noise;
- Marine geology and geophysics.
