The French National Institute for Research in Computer Science (INRIA) will hold its eighth industry meeting in Paris, France, on 26 November 1998. The event will serve as a forum for the presentation of over 50 research applications in the telecommunications and multimedia field and to discuss research and technology issues related to these industries.

The programme will be divided into a series of plenary and parallel sessions. The plenary sessions will address issues related to the main tendencies of computer software research applied to telecommunications and multimedia and the main technological challenges for these industries.

Demonstrations will focus on advanced networks covering network design and optimisation, new communication protocols and wireless network infrastructures. The demonstration on innovative applications and services will cover advanced software technologies, advanced man-machine interaction and distributed applications and services. This will be followed by plenary sessions to discuss issues related to the technologies and applications demonstrated.
