Online information 1998
This year's programme will see the introduction of conference sessions specifically designed for professionals from "information-rich" industries. Two special conference sessions will address issues related to the health and pharmaceutical and sales and marketing sectors. The key themes of this year's event will include:
- Who are the new consumers?
- Filling the Intranets;
- Relationship management;
- The creation of virtual communities;
- Knowledge management;
- New distribution models;
- Electronic publishing;
- Information centres: gateways or gatekeepers;
- Web information - fee or free.
In addition, an exhibition of online information products and services will be run in parallel to the conference and the annual information industry awards will be presented in four categories for best product and service, best newcomer, best technological innovation and best stand. A series of satellite events will also be open to participants on the day preceding and the day following the main conference.
These will take the form of seminars and will cover topics such as:
- Electronic commerce - the business opportunities;
- WWW marketing - new rules and old techniques;
- Creating Web pages for your business;
- Integrating legacy systems with the Web;
- Online communities - planning for 2001;
- The information professional in the Internet age.
Seminars conducted in Dutch, German, Spanish, French and Italian will also be open to participants and will cover a range of online information related issues.
