A conference and exhibition on the security of information technology will be held in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, on 28 and 29 October 1998. The aim of the event is to discuss the growing demand for information technology (IT) security products and to specifically address the issues and problems of concern to this market.

The conference will comprise a series of keynote sessions addressing issues related to a new standard for IT security and better infrastructure for securing information. In addition a series of tutorials will examine the key issues facing organisations today and the technologies available to address them.

Examples of the topics to be covered in the tutorials include:

- Leveraging smart card technology to improve internet security;
- Security as a business enabler;
- Content security and content privacy;
- Virtual private networks and the internet computing architecture.

An exhibition bringing together 40 major IT security vendors and the latest market products and technology will run in parallel with the conference.
