The first international workshop on radiowave propagation modelling will be held on 28 and 29 October 1998, in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, and is organised by the European Space Agency. The objective of the workshop is to bring together specialists in the fields of design and simulation of satellite communication systems. They will review the progress made with COST Action 255. Guidelines for the completion of this work will also be elaborated during the conference.

This COST project has set out to contribute to the improvement of the design and planning of present and future telecoms systems and services. Building on the results of recent and ongoing collaborative European propagation measurement campaigns, propagation prediction models are being revised and new radio-meteorological data are assimilated and mapped. The research aims to improve the link between propagation prediction and system performance. The target systems are fixed and broadcasting satellite services as well as land mobile and navigation satellite systems.

Topics to be covered during the event will be within the following fields:

- Fixed propagation;
- Mobile propagation;
- Climatic parameters and mapping;
- Systems and simulation.
