COST workshop on supramolecular chemistry

The first workshop on supramolecular chemistry to be organised within the framework of European cooperation in the field of scientific and technical research (COST), Action D11, will be held in Perugia, Italy, from 1 to 4 October 1998. The aim of the event is to present current research activities and discuss topics of mutual interest within the project.

Supramolecular chemistry focuses on complex structures formed by the association of several moieties and on the novel chemical properties resulting from this higher complexity. The workshop will provide an overview of the research activities covered by COST D11. Invited lectures and presentations will deal with the following topics:

- Synthesis of novel supramolecular structures and study of their properties;
- Host-Guest complexation and molecular recognition;
- Supramolecular reactivity and catalysis;
- Molecular evolution and the origin of life;
- Supramolecular engineering and molecular devices;
- Theoretical studies and molecular modelling.
