A conference on information ecologies and the impact of the new information species will be held in York, United Kingdom, from 2 to 4 December 1998. It will be organised within the framework of the UK's Electronic Libraries Programme (eLib) and will be coordinated by the UK Office for Library and Information Networking (UKOLN).

The conference will comprise a series of plenary and parallel sessions, and will focus on issues related to the impact of information ecologies on libraries and universities today, the nature and economics of some of these new information species, and how to plan in order to cope with the new environment in the future.
