Design: the integrative challenge

A conference on the integrative challenge of design will be held in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, on 12 November 1998. It will be held within the framework of the EDIT (European Design Innovation Tool) project funded within the EU's INNOVATION programme. The conference will provide an overview of design management now and in the future, and will offer an insight into the critical factors for success and failure in the organisation of design projects.

Key features of the conference will be the presentation of best practice cases on how companies successfully innovate and compete through design. Issues related to the future of design management will also be discussed, as will practical examples on the future of design and design management.

The focus of the conference will be on empirical research, case studies and presentations related to the following topics:

- Integrated and multi-disciplinary teamwork;
- The integration of user involvement in design;
- The integration of design in marketing;
- The integration of design in the business strategy;
- The integration of new materials and technologies in design;
- The costs and benefits of design.
