The seventh annual European symposium on artificial neural networks (ESANN'99) will be held in Bruges, Belgium, from 21 to 23 April 1999. The aim of the conference will be to present and discuss the latest advances in artificial neural networks and will focus on fundamental aspects such as theory, models, learning algorithms, statistics, signal processing and biological plausibility.

The conference organisers are currently seeking the submission of papers for presentation during the conference, and papers on links and comparisons between artificial neural networks and other domains of research are particularly encouraged. Topics to be covered during the conference include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Theory;
- Models and architecture;
- Mathematics and learning algorithms;
- Approximation of functions;
- Time series forecasting;
- Independent component analysis;
- Natural and artificial vision;
- Identification of non-linear dynamic systems;
- Formal models of biological phenomena;
- Neurobiological systems.
