Alternative fuels for urban transport

The Organisations for the Promotion of Energy Technology (OPET), the EU network for the promotion of new innovative energy technologies, will organise a conference on alternative fuels for the transport sector to be held in Oeiras, Portugal, on 29 October 1998. The meeting will be of a technical nature and will be targeted at medium-sized and large municipalities who wish to benefit from experience gained in Portugal through new technologies and alternative fuels.

The topics to be addressed during the conference will include:

- Technology overview of alternative transport fuels;
- Environmental impact of alternative fuels;
- Alternative fuels in Spain;
- Bio-fuels in Portugal;
- The viability of using natural gas in urban transport.
