Managing virtual enterprises

ICIS'98, the nineteenth international conference on information systems will be held in Helsinki, Finland, from 13 to 16 December 1998. The conference will address the theme "Crossing boundaries: Managing virtual enterprises" and discussions will focus on new mobile, interoperable, and flexible technologies that will create new information rich environments and a range of possibilities for the virtual enterprise of the 21st century.

Examples of the specific topics to be addressed during the conference include:

- Intangible assets: valuing information technology and humanising accountants;
- Electronic commerce and strategy;
- Developing processes for the new global market;
- Systems development methodology and Webpage design;
- Redesigning the information technology function;
- Qualitative perspectives on systems analysis and design;
- Managing the virtual organisation;
- Software use and reuse;
- Information technology investments and conceptual modelling.
