A European forum for the award for best practice in benchmarking will be held in Cardiff, United Kingdom, on 14 and 15 October 1998. The event will bring together representatives from policy-making bodies, as well as the electronic commerce and marketing industries, and will offer participants the opportunity to collect and exchange ideas for improving the competitiveness of their enterprises.

The event will comprise a series of workshops addressing the following topics:

- Contrasting alternative approaches to business modelling;
- Knowledge management and electronic commerce;
- Employees as advocates of change;
- Turbo-charging business through benchmarking.

The plenary sessions will be divided into three streams, covering business transformation, value for money and practical benchmarking.
