SITEF'98 - International Market for Advanced Technologies

The ninth International Market for Advanced Technologies (SITEF'98) will be held in Toulouse, France, from 21 to 25 October 1998. Supported by the EU, this international trade fair provides a unique opportunity for industries, research organisations, and policy-makers to examine and discuss key advances in technology.

The exhibition will focus on the latest technologies for scientific research and statistics from the last SITEF event show that there was a total of 183 stands, comprising 743 exhibitors from 22 different countries. A large number of public research institutes are also expected to attend this year's event, including the European Commission's Joint Research Centre.

The theme of the event will be "New information and communication technologies", and exhibitions during the 1998 SITEF will cover five major industrial areas:

- Aeronautics and space;
- Electronics;
- Computer and communication networks;
- Ground transport;
- Biotechnologies.

A series of symposiums will also be held in parallel to the exhibition. These will be as follows:

- Global navigation satellite systems (20-23 October 1998);
- European tuition and training in space engineering (20-23 October 1998);
- First national business intelligence symposium (22 October 1998);
- European University-Enterprise Associations Conference (19-20 October 1998);
- Logistics National symposium (21-22 October 1998);
- New information and communications technologies and SMEs (21-23 October 1998).
