A Panhellenic conference on new information technologies will be held in Athens, Greece, from 8 to 10 October 1998. The conference will be organised by the Hellenic MIDAS-NET node (the network established under the INFO2000 programme to raise awareness of multimedia), in cooperation with the National Documentation Centre and the NIT Human Network.

The conference will provide a high quality forum for scientists and engineers to present their latest research findings in the rapidly growing field of new information technologies. Topics of interest will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Multimedia systems;
- Geographic information systems (GIS);
- Modern database issues;
- Internet and World Wide Web;
- Electronic publishing and electronic commerce;
- Digital/virtual libraries;
- Language technology issues;
- Wireless computing and communication issues;
- System analysis, design and development.
