FP7 Human Factors and Ergonomics workshop, March in Brussels

Quality of life by rationalizing economic and socio-economic systems respecting the human integrity is the main objective of ergonomics. It's multidisciplinary evidence based approach cross many research topics in fundamental as in applied research, training & education, implementation and evaluation of innovative ideas, standardization and legislation.

12 March 2007 - 13 March 2007
Belgium
Ergonomics or human factors is the scientific discipline which deals with all aspects of human activities and living conditions in professional as private life. For example, human capacities must be able to match the activity-demands for an acceptable quality of life to be assured. If the capacity and demand are not balanced, there are negative implications for health, safety and well being of the individual as well as, more generally, threats to our economic and for socio-economic systems.
Although the term ‘ergonomics’ is not found in the 7th Framework Program many topics implicitly refer to the human factor either for the user/end-user or in the development, manufacturing and producing of goods, materials and services. Key function of the ergonomics discipline is to adapt conditions through which imbalances are eliminated by design (re-design) of the activities, the techniques, the organization and physical environment.
The multi -or inter- disciplinary approach of ergonomics has an underlying presence as a cross-thematic aid-factor offering, if it is revealed and developed, added value and opportunities in any project in which humans effort and enterprise are involved.

To enhance these aspects, the European Task Force (EUTF) of FEES (the Federation of European Ergonomics Societies) is organizing a first 2-day workshop in Brussels on March 12 and 13 with the objective to screen possibilities to participate in FP7 and to offer besides the network expertise and partnerships, very practical information about the program processes and management.
At present the FEES network represents the national societies of 16 European countries, giving, in total, about 4,000 experts in ergonomics-human factors..
