Multimedia research under the Fifth Framework Programme

An international conference on multimedia research in the Fifth RTD Framework Programme will be held in Turin, Italy, on 16 November 1998. The aim of the event is to provide an overview of the situation of the multimedia industry in Europe, and to present the new Fifth Framework Programme. The conference will be organised by the Italian Multimedia Interest Group, in cooperation with the Innovation Relay Centre for north-west Italy and the Italian Agency for the Promotion of European Research (APRE).
The focus of discussions in relation to the multimedia industry will be on electronic commerce, multimedia art and platforms. The key components of the Fifth RTD Framework Programme of interest to the multimedia industry will be presented by a representative of the European Commission, and case studies of European companies who have successfully carried out multimedia projects and who are currently seeking new partners for projects will also be presented.
Participants will be offered the opportunity to discuss issues of concern to the multimedia industry with a Commission representative from the Information Technologies (ESPRIT) programme, Mr Rene de Cotret, on the final day of the conference.
