A conference on concurrent enterprising will be held in The Hague, The Netherlands, from 15 to 17 March 1999. The event will discuss issues related to concurrent enterprising, one of the domains of electronic commerce which addresses business to business applications, where information and communication technology provides the opportunity for faster, cheaper and more efficient interaction loops between trading partners.

The event will bring together business and industry leaders, academics, researchers, government officials and vendors from all over the world to discuss the latest developments in concurrent enterprising. Besides showcasing research, the conference will include live process and tool demonstrations. The specific aims of the event are as follows:

- To provide insight into the organisational behaviour of a virtual enterprise where concurrent engineering practices occur;
- To illustrate how business, support and management processes interrelate and how ICT enables these processes;
- To show how effective resource management influences the efficiency of a virtual enterprise;
- To demonstrate an improvement framework that will give insight into managing the new business environment and making the transition from a traditional organisation to a virtual enterprise.

The conference organisers are currently seeking the submission of papers for presentation of papers during the conference. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Tools and methods to support multi-disciplinary project design and development;
- Electronic data exchange and information modelling and simulation;
- ICTs to support concurrent working;
- Case studies of concurrent engineering in industry;
- Tools and methods for enterprise modelling and integration;
- Virtual enterprise and collaborative decision making;
- Information and knowledge management of virtual enterprises;
- Organisation, management and teaming in concurrent enterprising.
