3rd Living Knowledge Conference
We are pleased to invite you to the third Living Knowledge Conference which will be held in Paris, France, from 30 August to 1 September 2007. The main themes of conference will be:
• University engagement with communities
• Citizens‘ science, social movements and techno-scientific development
• Research policy - from local to global: Towards Science in Society
• Innovation, sustainable development, citizens and added values for communities
• Participatory processes in science and technology
Therefore the conference will focus on building equitable and supportive research partnerships with civil society organisations on national as well as transnational level, but also on developing scientists‘ and policy makers’ awareness of public concern issues and enhancing their capacity to work for and with citizens. Strategies and tools for civil society organisations to influence Science & Technology research and policy agendas and methodologies will be another focus of conference activities.
The conference will lead to the presentation of a large variety of experiences from across Europe and beyond. They will reflect the social utility, the innovative power and the scientific value of these initiatives and discuss the conditions for democratised research and socialised innovation.
Practitioners from non-governmental organisations (NGOs), research institutes, universities (both academics/faculty and students) and science and society policy makers are invited to share their experiences.
The Conference will include plenary sessions, oral presentations, workshops, and a marketplace (with poster session). The official languages of the conference are English and French. Translation will be available throughout the conference.
