Research Workshop: “Corporate Strategy and Social Responsibility”
The objective of the workshop is to convene a small, carefully selected group of academics and reflective practitioners from business and other stakeholder groups to share their work and thinking on the link between corporate responsibility and corporate strategy. It is intended to provide new insights into the dynamic relationship between the two, to highlight key challenges from the academic and practitioner perspectives, and to examine the state of theory and methodology that currently inform management practice and education.
Through a combination of inputs from leading thinkers and practitioners working on the intersection between corporate strategy and corporate responsibility, the agenda will address some key questions, including:
• How does social responsibility theory and practice inform (if at all) the content and process of corporate strategy, as we know it today?
• How could/should the debate on the role of business in society inform the development of a strategic management theory based on the explicit consideration and integration of the social responsibilities of companies?
• Does the adaptation of strategic management theory require a marginal adjustment to the current thinking and practice, or a more radical re-design of our models and processes?
The agenda will leave open space for plenary as well as small group interactions, since the assumption is that the link between the development of corporate strategy and the role of business in society is at present far from being fully articulated and that it will only emerge through effective dialogue among experienced scholars and reflective practitioners.
If your current work addresses these questions and could enhance the content of the workshop, please make direct contact with Professor Maurizio Zollo at Maurizio.zollo@insead.edu and/or Renato Orsato at Renato.orsato@insead.edu.
The workshop will have a limited number of participants to allow for an effective dialogue. Priority for attendance will be given to those who have related work or ideas to contribute to the dialogue. As it forms part of the "CSR Platform" Project, led by the European Academy of Business In Society (EABIS) and funded by the European Union's 6th Framework Programme, participation is free of charge.
NOTE: travel and accommodation costs for participants will not be covered.
