South Africa Science Day Conference, Brussels

A special South Africa Science Day Conference will be presented in Brussels on Thursday 26 April 2007 to present South Africa's science and technology strengths and to encourage Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) cooperation between European and South African partners.

26 April 2007 - 26 April 2007
South Africa
The South Africa Science Day Conference will be presented by the South African Department of Science and Technology as part of the European South African Science and Technology Advancement Programme (ESASTAP), a Sixth Framework Programme Specific Support Action dedicated to promote improved scientific and technological cooperation between South Africa and the European Union.

The Conference will have as objective to present South Africa’s flagship and most exciting national R&D programmes in order to promote deepened cooperation with Europe. Conference speakers will include South African science and technology experts from government, universities, public research organisations and industry, and representatives from the European Commission and South Africa’s bilateral cooperation partners in Europe.

Part of the Conference will review success stories from past cooperation – South Africa had for example participated in close to 120 FP6 projects. New instruments for collaboration will also be highlighted, such as seed funding for European researchers to travel to South Africa to prepare FP7 proposals with South African partners.

The event will be held at the Stanhope Hotel opposite Square de Meeus, in the heart of the Brussels R&D district. Further details including the Conference programme and information on registration are available at http://www.esastap.org.za(opens in new window).

All parties with an interest in science and technology cooperation with South Africa are warmly encouraged to attend.
