Workshop on the Sampling, Detection, Monitoring and Characterisation of Nanoparticles

A number of experimental techniques and commercially available instruments already exist for the sampling, detection, monitoring and characterisation of nanoparticles.

22 May 2007
Austria
A number of experimental techniques and commercially available instruments already exist for the sampling, detection, monitoring and characterisation of nanoparticles. However the enormous variety of artificially produced nanoparticle materials, shapes, sizes, surface chemical characteristics, and tendencies to agglomerate, coupled with their presence within populations of naturally occurring nanoparticles, will continue to present scientific challenges to all concerned with the development and use of these techniques and instruments.

This workshop is intended to provide a forum where instrument manufacturers and actual and potential users can find out about, and discuss the parameters of most significance in environmental and health and safety contexts; the capabilities of particular instrumental techniques; and any requirements in the nanotechnology community that can not yet be addressed using available technology.
