The eighth European symposium on space mechanisms and tribology will be held in Toulouse, France, from 29 September to 1 October 1999. The aim of the symposium is to promote dialogue between space mechanism engineers on the design, development, testing, production and in-flight experience of space craft and payload mechanisms.

The conference organisers are currently seeking the submission of papers for presentation during the conference. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Mechanism design, analysis and hardware;
- Components and equipment;
- Tribology;
- Technology;
- In-orbit performance and post-flight investigations;
- Science observatories and planetary exploratory mechanisms;
- Space platforms and re-entry vehicle mechanisms;
- Mechanisms and components products presentation.
