A half-day seminar entitled "Translation skills means business" will be held in Inverness, United Kingdom, on 4 November 1998. It will be organised by the Innovation Relay Centre for Scotland in association with the Scotland/Northern Ireland Node for the Multilingual Information Society (MLIS) programme.

The seminar is specifically aimed at representatives of exporting companies, particularly exporting departmental managers whose responsibilities include ensuring that their staff maximise their potential to secure business within Europe by improving their multilingual skills.

Participants will be offered the opportunity to obtain details of the range of services provided by the MLIS network, including an insight into the establishment of a company language strategy, based on a recent survey on languages for business carried out by the UK Department of Trade and Industry. Information on the tools available to enhance the language learning and translation skills of employees in exporting companies will also be provided.
