ENVIROSOFT'98, the seventh international conference on the development and application of computer techniques to environmental studies, will be held in Las Vegas, USA, from 10 to 12 November 1998. The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for discussion for managers and engineers involved in the creation, development or application of computer software to environmental problems.

The conference will present the most recent developments and practical implementation of theoretical, numerical and applicable aspects of computer analysis, simulation, modelling, control and forecasting for environmental applications. The aim is to establish a useful connection between the originators of environmental software programmes and their possible users, thus reducing the present large duplication of effort in software development.

The conference will address a wide range of topics under the following themes:

- Mathematical modelling;
- Pollution: air, water, soil, noise and radiation;
- Environmental sciences and engineering;
- Surface and groundwater hydrology;
- Meteorology and climatology;
- Geology and geophysics;
- Remote sensing and geographical information systems;
- Software performance and optimisation;
- Software implementation;
- Databases;
- Environmental management and decision analysis.
