Security research in the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Development (FP7) of the European Commission should develop new technologies and knowledge needed to ensure the security of citizens from threats such as terrorism and organised crime, while respecting fundamental human rights. The challenges can be solved only with the help of information and communication technologies. FP7 has therefore given priority to joint research on the subject of safety and security and IT-technology.
The international conference “Safety and Security Systems in Europe”, organized by the Innovation Relay Centre Northern Germany on behalf of VDI/VDE-IT, is therefore addressed to technology-oriented enterprises and research institutions in the area of security and safety. The conference also includes a brokerage platform (Pre-Arranged Meeting Service) to initiate European research or cooperation projects among the participants.
