R'99: recovering, recycling and re-integration

R'99, an international congress on integrated resources management, will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 2 to 5 February 1999. The aim of the event is to provide a forum to discuss issues related to solving complex environmental problems through cooperative behaviour. The congress will offer an interdisciplinary approach to environmental problems with presentations from, and discussions with, representatives from industry and trade, science and academia, as well as the public sector.

The event will comprise a series of plenary and poster sessions, workshops, and an exhibition by various companies on the latest recovery, recycling and re-integration technologies. The emphasis of the conference will be on the following:

- The economics of integrated resource management;
- The technical and economic feasibility of waste management processes;
- Diversion from landfills to recycling;
- Impact on employment of waste management strategies;
- Structural changes from traditional branches towards the recovery and recycling industry;
- Waste reduction and avoidance strategies;
- Consequences of new legislation;
- Energy recovery;
- Dismantling and separation technologies.
