THE RAMMAL AWARD 2006 REWARDS A PHYSICIST FROM ALGERIA AND A BIOLOGIST FROM FRANCE

Prof. Majed Chergui (Ecole Polytechnique de Lausanne) and Prof. Gérard Lefranc (Université de Montpellier II) are sharing the 2006 Rammal Award.

EUROSCIENCE's President Enric Banda has announced that, by unanimous decision of its expert panel, the Rammal Award for the year 2006 will be shared by Professors Majed Chergui and Gérard Lefranc.
Prof. Majed Chergui, 50, presently working at the Ecole Polytechnique de Lausanne, is a leading specialist in femtochemistry. He collaborates with several groups in the Mediterranean area and is chairman of the Interdivisional Group of Physics for Development (IGPD) of the European Physical Society.
Prof. Gérard Lefranc, 66, professor at the Université de Montpellier II, is a specialist in rare genetic diseases who spent eight years in Lebanon and seven years in Tunisia, contributing decisively to the creation of laboratories there and to the training of a generation of specialists in molecular biology and geneticists.
