Teletrade - the new goldrush

The sixth national conference of Telework Ireland, the Irish association of teleworkers, will be held in Portumna, Ireland, on 12 and 13 November 1998. The conference will be officially opened by Mr Noel Treacy TD, Minister for Science, Technology and Commerce, who has recently established the National Advisory Council on Teleworking. He will attend the conference, and take questions from participants. Members of the National Advisory Council will also attend and participate in the event.

The conference will feature presentations from a wide variety of speakers from Irish business and from the European Commission. It will comprise a series of plenary presentations and workshops on the following topics:

- The future of electronic commerce;
- European perspectives on new ways of working;
- Teleworking in Ireland - past, present and future;
- How flexible working can help business;
- Teleworking - the corporate and individual experience;
- Motivation and stress management.

The workshops will address the following:

- Telework Ireland software localisation training programme;
- The Fifth RTD Framework Programme - new ways to work and electronic trade;
- Telework Ireland - project and development ideas;
- Managing stress as a teleworker;
- Implementing flexible working;
- Using the Internet to save and make money;
- How to set up a successful video Web cast.
