Metadata - more than just data about data

A conference on metadata will be held in London, United Kingdom, from 8 to 10 March 1999. The purpose is to examine advances in the storage of metadata, its extraction and integration, as well as its convergence and uses. The main objective is to explore methods for the better management of metadata in order to deliver more effective business systems.

The conference will explore four key themes:

- The purposes and uses of metadata in areas such as application development tools, data warehousing tools, middleware, systems management software;
- The types of solutions being proposed to support metadata in a more managed and controlled way;
- The products on the market which are able to support metadata in a managed and controlled way;
- Enabling technology for data sharing in information technology departments.
