The JDRF Center for Beta Cell Therapy in Diabetes holds its second Symposium in Brussels on Friday October 5, 2007.

The Center is an international consortium of clinical and research departments with associated reference centers, bioindustry and central cores. Its objective is to develop and implement strategies to preserve and restore a functional beta cell mass in patients with diabetes.

Each year, the Center organizes an open meeting to bring a status on its activities and perspectives; guest speakers from related areas are also invited. This year, the symposium will focus on ongoing clinical trials and related developments. It is in the first place intended for clinicians, health care professionals and policy makers, biomedical investigators, laypersons with an interest in diabetes and journalists.

The symposium will feature sessions on:
Prevention of Beta Cell Destruction
Replacement of Beta Cells
Tracking Laboratory-Produced Cells to Patients
Safety and Regulation in Novel Cell Therapies
