DECOS/ERCIM Workshop 2007 on Dependable Embedded Systems

In the frame of the SAFECOMP 2007 event to be held on 18-21 September in Nüremberg, Germany, the ERCIM Working Group on “Dependable Embedded Systems” will co-organize a workshop together with the European integrated project DECOS, with an additional focus on co-operative systems for intelligent road traffic management as provided by the European IP COOPERS.

18 September 2007 - 18 September 2007
Austria
Embedded systems technology will be addressed with topics on challenges, impact, solutions, examples, professional and academic education, and training.

According to Erwin Schoitsch (Austrian Research Centers), Chair of the workshop with Amund Skavhaug (NTNU), “Dependable systems are systems that can justifiably be relied on throughout the complete life cycle and under all possible conditions of use. Depending on the application, the dependability attributes safety, reliability, maintainability, survivability, availability and security are emphasized to a greater or lesser extent. The optimal combination of desirable dependability attributes has to be found and implemented, based on system risk/hazard assessment and evaluation.”

SAFECOMP is an annual event covering the state-of-the-art, experience and new trends in the areas of computer safety, reliability and security regarding dependable application of computer systems.
