Conference on 'Collaborating into the Future: Empowering SME to Innovate'

“Collaborating into the Future: Empowering SME to innovate” is a stimulating one-day conference exploring the promotion of innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) by involving them in funding opportunities for international collaborative research and development (R&D).

Collaborating into the Future: Empowering SME to Innovate
18.10.2007 / Brussels, Belgium

Organizer: smE-MPOWER project supported by the European Commission

During the conference, speakers from major companies, the European Commission, SME support agencies and leading research centers will discuss a number of novel ideas in the field of innovation and the role of SME in the international R&D arena.

Three parallel sessions will provide platforms for policy makers to examine and review their regional innovation systems, for consultants and executives from SME to explore the process of matching SME with appropriate funding opportunities and for the organizer – the international smE-MPOWER consortium- to share its experiences establishing and running a successful support program as well as to demonstrate its processes, tools and know-how for the benefit of SME support agencies.

The smE-MPOWER initiative coordinated by the Fraunhofer IFF has made it its mission to support small and medium-sized enterprises in Europe so that they can effectively take advantage of the funding opportunities for research and development open to them. The intention is to overcome existing obstacles in order to strengthen enterprises. This is being done by conducting workshops that help enterprises pinpoint their own potentials and facilitate the creation of European-wide networks.

The conference is an invaluable opportunity for everyone involved in collaborative SME R&D to learn, discuss, review and network in a motivational and facilitative environment. Rarely does an event so thoroughly integrate theory and practice on such a scale and with such an impact.
