An Internet fiesta will be coordinated by the European Commission's Information Society Project Office (ISPO) between 19 and 21 March 1999. The aim is to display the best of Europe's Information Society and Internet ideas, and to involve a wide range of people, showing as many different ideas, services and solutions as possible.

Contributions are welcomed from all sectors and age groups. Examples of last year's activities included an Internet demonstration by children for grandparents, an explanation of the Internet to local government officials, as well as discussions on the impact of the Internet on society.

Individuals, organisations and other groups interested in participating in the Internet Fiesta will organise their own events, which will be coordinated by ISPO. The overall event will be launched officially on 20 November 1998.
