Presenting the opportunities within the Information Societies programme

A half-day seminar on the opportunities for funding within the Fifth RTD Framework Programme's Information Society Technologies (IST) programme will be held in Inverness, United Kingdom, on 27 November 1998. The seminar, which has been organised by the Innovation Relay Centre (IRC) for Scotland, is intended for any organisation considering participating in a proposal for funding.

The event will provide participants with the opportunity to obtain more information on the coming opportunities within the IST programme, and to learn about the process through which proposals are evaluated. It will also provide an insight into the way in which specific evaluators apply the evaluation criteria for each of the funding programmes. Key features of the event will include a presentation from a representative of the UK Multimedia Special Interest Group and a presentation from a local company outlining their experiences of working on EU information technology projects.

During the seminar, participants will have the opportunity to learn about how the IRC can assist with IST proposals. Other aims will include:

- To understand programme specific evaluation criteria;
- Evaluate the likelihood of success before expending effort on a bid;
- Structuring and writing a proposal that highlights the strengths of the consortium;
- Matching ideas to the most appropriate call for proposals.
