An international workshop on user acceptance of telematics applications by healthcare professionals will be held in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 11 and 12 December 1998. It will be organised and supported by the European Commission and Parliament, and will focus on the educational and training aspects of healthcare telematics. Key features of the workshop will include opening addresses from representatives of both these institutions.

The workshop will discuss the many challenges impeding the wider implementation of health telematics applications and services in the context of the technical, legal and organisational challenges. The challenge of the user acceptance of telematics applications will provide a particular focus for discussions. Examples of health telematics education programmes and their impact so far, as well as training experiences, will be presented during the workshop. Particular emphasis will be given to new developments in the area of human computer applications and the expected impact on future training.
