A conference entitled "Innovation and sustainable regional development" will be held in Namur, Belgium, on 9 December 1998. The event will be organised by the Belgian Fondation Travail-Université and will be sponsored by the Ministry for Research and Technological Development of the Walloon region of Belgium.
The aim of the event is to discuss how programmes of technological innovation could input into the sustainable development process, and in the particular context of the Walloon region. The conference will also assess the suitability of other initiatives for sustainable development for this region.
The following topics will be discussed during the conference:
- An integrated approach to regional sustainable development in Baden-Württemberg;
- The interdepartmental programme for sustainable technological development in The Netherlands;
- Technologies for sustainable development - a regional issue;
- Environment and sustainable development.
