ADL'99, an international conference on digital libraries, will be held in Baltimore, USA, from 19 to 21 May 1999, organised by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The aim of the conference is to share and disseminate information on important current issues concerning digital library research and technology, and to highlight the importance of applications of digital library technologies in the public and private sectors of the economy.

The conference organisers are currently seeking the submission of papers for presentation during the conference, describing technical advances in all areas of digital library technology covering areas such as:

- Agent technology;
- Authoring and scripting;
- Digital library testbed systems;
- Economic issues and billing mechanisms;
- Semantic and systems interoperability;
- Resource discovery and management;
- Telecommunications and networking;
- Transition from traditional libraries.
