Cities of KnowlEdge: Innovative Cities for the Next Generation

Cities empowering themselves by e-empowering their citizens.

We would like to invite you and your colleagues in senior management in your city/organisation to participate in this major international e- Government conference, "Cities of Knowledge" at Clontarf Castle in Dublin, Ireland on November 20th 2007. This conference will provide a uniquely interactive opportunity for us to engage collectively on how cities can harness technology to enhance quality of life and public service provision, stimulating a regional knowledge economy. Outputs from this conference will be disseminated through European networks on eGovernment, Innovation and policy formation.

Dublin, Barcelona and Helsinki are partner cities in a European ICT Research Project called ICING (Innovative Cities for the Next Generation). This project seeks to develop enhanced connections between citizens and their cities using web and mobile technology. The ICING project partners are drawn not only from innovative city authorities across Europe, but from leading edge technology companies eSpatial, Telefonica and T-Systems Iberia; Academic research institutions Universitat Pompeu Fabre Barcelona, the University of Art & Design in Helsinki and Dublin Institute of Technology the co-ordinating partner in this significant 3 year project funded under FP6 by the European Commission.
