Biotech Strategy '98

Biotech Strategy '98, an international conference on biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry, will be held in London, United Kingdom, on 8 and 9 December 1998. The conference will outline the complete range of structures and sources of finance for private biotech companies and will also present strategies to maximise corporate value and defray costs through research and development alliances.

The conference will address the theme "Developing successful business strategies for the biotechnology and emerging pharmaceutical industries" and will feature two post-conference workshops on "Planning for success in going public" and "Media and investor relations: Communicating to a sceptical market".

The plenary sessions of the conference will address the following topics:

- Identifying how significant paradigm shifts in therapeutic research and development have caused a surge in the biotech sector;
- Evaluating the benefits and pitfalls of different types of finance available to biotech companies;
- Assessing the pros and cons of raising finance through venture capital;
