ATMTU'99, an ATM technology user's symposium will be held in Ko�ice, Slovakia, from 17 to 19 February 1999, supported by Slovak Telecom, the ATM Association in the Slovak Republic and the Technical University of Ko�ice. The symposium will focus on broadband telecommunications networks based on ATM technology which offer a variety of services based on the latest developments and technology. Progress made within this field has been very rapid and the event will aim to update participants on the latest developments in ATM technology.

The symposium will be devoted to the presentation and sharing of experiences in the implementation and operation of broadband networks based on ATM technology, as well as the presentation of verified technology and services offered. The following objectives have been outlined:

- To support the dissemination of experiences pursuant to ATM technology utilisation;
- To get an extensive base of future customers and users;
- To support various forms of links among users and service providers.

The symposium will comprise a series of technical and plenary sessions which will cover topics such as:

- Pilot projects of ATM networks;
- Services in ATM networks;
- Comparison of ATM technologies from the point of view of their future implementation, protection of investments and further development;
- Standardisation in ATM technology;
- Broadband networks management.

In addition, an exhibition of the latest products, components and applications will be open to participants in parallel with the symposium.
