SERI 2008: all about scientific information!

The 4th European Research & Innovation Exhibition (SERI) exhibition, which will be held from 5 to 7 June 2008, is growing and will now be located in hall 5, the most recent hall with the latest facilities at Porte de Versailles, where institutional, industrial and regional players will present their latest scientific, environmental and medical innovations.

5 July 2008 - 7 July 2008
France
Successful launch

This year’s exhibition was officially launched at the Senate at the beginning of November with the presence of over 200 people who came to attend the debate on ‘‘the role and future of scientific information’’, led by Michel Claessens, head of communication at the European Commission’s Research DG, and bringing together Philippe Carli, chairman of Siemens France, Laurent Buisson, director of innovation and regional
policy at the Ministry of Higher Education & Research, and Jean Audouze, in his capacity as an
astrophysics researcher and research director at the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS).

SERI 2008: the European R&D–R&I event

With 230 exhibitors and 24 277 visitors, last year confirmed the exhibition’s success and 2008 promises to be even better! The exhibition has become an exclusive and privileged meeting place for all those involved in R&D-R&I. SERI’s first registered exhibitors support the exhibition’s orientation, including urban environment and sustainable construction, medical research, the future of energy in the world and ICT. These are all challenges for Europe and are what visitors come for.

Finland, guest of honour

Finland, which has been a European Union member state since 1995, is a remarkable country with its
ability to transform its research into innovation. In November 2003 it signed a declaration on biotechnologies with France and has taken part in 862 projects in the 6th RDFP in which the Finns have coordinated 129 projects. Financing obtained by Finnish organisations represents approximately 300 million euros, including 15% for SME’s, 15% for large companies, 27% for research institutes and 34% for universities.

The exhibition’s provisional scientific programme

The scientific committee, chaired by the astrophysicist Jean Audouze and consisting of 72 key figures, has already drafted a provisional programme with over 80 conferences. Twelve major subjects are planned covering a wide range of topics which will contribute to the development of scientific information at SERI.
