Launch of the Aegean Business and Innovation Centre
EBIC-Ege will be operating as a part of the new ENTERPRISE EUROPE NETWORK which comprises of 600 partner organisations in more than 40 countries, promoting competitiveness and innovation at the local level in Europe and beyond. EBIC-Ege will be contributing to these aims by assisting SMEs implementing European policies in support of business and innovation, utilizing the skills of the network partners effectively through very lean and effective governance. Primarily, it will aim to implement the ‘No wrong door’ concept; by integrating all services in support of business and innovation into a comprehensive set of services for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) but will also serve to large businesses, research centres and Universities across Europe.
IRC-Ege, coordinated by Ege University, has been active in the Aegean Region located in the West of Turkey, comprising of 14 provinces around the city of Izmir since 1st of April 2004, as one of two IRC in Turkey. 71 Innovation Relay Centres (IRCs) have been established across Europe since the network’s first conception in 1995, spreading over over 31 countries. 58 Transnational Technology Transfer (TTT) agreements have been successfully signed with support from IRC-Ege in the last four years and 28 of these innovative Technologies were transferred from Turkey to European countries such as Finland, Italy, Germany, Greece and Israel. Through these activities in the Aegean Region IRC-EGE has created added-value approximately M€ 35 and 230 new employment.
Denizli European Information Centre, coordinated by Denizli Chamber of Commerce, has been operating as one of the 8 centers in Turkey since 2003, providing the regional SMEs with information and tools to do business with European companies through the EIC network as part of over 300 Euro Info Centres in 51 countries.
Aegean Exporters’ Association is a very prestigious organization dating back to 1930s in Turkey, aiming to contribute to the increase of export by guiding companies in foreign markets, disseminating information about international foreign trade legislations and international markets, regulating the professional activities and relations among the exporters, solving individual or sectoral problems.
These three influential organisations have now joint forces and will be at the service of Aegean SMEs contributing to “fostering a more competitive Europe”.
