Blended Learning is a new term that defines a technology-enhanced training and education process. The term "blend" is used to describe a new solution that combines traditional face-to-face training with e-learning and new technologies.

The idea of combined approaches to education and training as lectures, group activities, role play, video, exercises and games, is not new. Similarly, e-learing is widely known as a distance learning process that generally uses internet and different media and technologies as delivery tools. Within this context, the idea of a new learning process that combines and blends both these contexts is taking place: on one hand, traditional face-to-face learing and, on the other hand, on-line learning with a considerable use of technology. Blended Learning has been existing for a long time: although in Italy it has been never named as such, it has been used in the past as a moderate or sperimental approach to e-learning, when technological knowledge and possibilities were quite different from those we have today.

b-learning4all is a EU funded project within the Leonardo da Vinci Programme – Education and Culture which aims at promoting the new Blended Learning process in Europe, through different tools such as an informative resources portal, practical examples, a European Guide to Blended Learning and specific dissemination actions.

Within the task of the foreseen activities, TUTOR European Center for the Development of Advanced Expertise, the Italian partner of the b-learning4all project, will be presenting the Italian version of the "Guide on Development and Implementation of Blended Learning Processes" during the workshop "INDUSTRY, RESEARCH AND TRAINING: Blended Learning and Learning Technologies", which will be taking place on 7th May 2008 at 2.30 pm in the Sala Auditorium at the Museo del Patrimonio Industriale (Industrial Heritage Museum) in Italy, Bologna, in Via della Beverara, 123. The workshop will be a moment of comparison and discussion on the subject of the different realities involved: industry, research and training system.

Among others, will be contribute:

CINZIA GENNARELLI, web marketing manager GRUPPO SACMI, Imola;
CLAUDIO GENTILI, Chairman of the NUCLEO EDUCATION CONFINDUSTRIA;
